OptinMonster and MailChimp are two popular marketing lead generator tools in the market today. But they are both used differently and unique in their own regard. If properly integrated they can be quite a powerful marketing tool. Here is what you should know about integrating OptinMonster and MailChimp.
What is OptinMonster?
OptinMonster is known for its easy to use drag and drop pop-up builder. It gives you the option to use pre-designed templates or start from scratch with your own design. When ready to publish there are a few key options you need to set up before your pop-up will show.
- OptinMonster Display Rules
For one thing, you can have multiple campaigns but only one per page. So what does that mean? if you have a site-wide email newsletter pop-up running you will have to edit display rules within the campaign to create an exclusionary rule. The exclusionary rule is the pages you don’t want the campaign to show on.
It would be shown like this: “If the current URL path does not exactly match.”Next, you would include the URL starting at the “/” and then show the campaign view Optin. If you have more than one condition you will have to use the AND condition.
Here is an example of an exclusionary rule:
More information about the display rules can be found here.
2. OptinMonster Integrations
OptinMonster also makes it easy to connect with other Email Service Providers like MailChimp. Before publishing your campaign you click on the Integrations tab.
In the campaign builder go to Integrations » Add New Integration » Email Provider and select MailChimp from the drop-down. You’ll need to enter your MailChimp API Key and click Connect to MailChimp.
It will then prompt you to choose your email marketing providers.
With MailChimp you will select your Email Provider List and have the option to select an existing MailChimp tag for each new subscriber that comes in. One thing to keep in mind if you want to send a welcome email from Mailchimp the “Enable double opt-in” must be checked to green. Knowing this tip will go a long way when you are testing and trying to find out why your emails aren’t sending.
Bottomline
OptinMonster and MailChimp work pretty seamlessly together. For business owners and digital marketers who don’t code these two applications together would be worth the investment.
